New drums
Last Weekend I trekked with 3 friends down to Pala Casino, an hour North of San Diego, to catch The Go-Go’s in concert. The ladies don’t make it to LA until the end of September and we just couldn’t wait that long!
I had 2nd row seats, in front of Jane & Kathy, though I moved back in forth to an empty seat in the center. Seems like the casino held back the front and center seats for casino goers who might like to take in a show. There were certainly plenty of folks in the audience who didn’t seem to know they were in for a rock show and stayed seated throughout. Despite the oddball crowd, there were plenty of us devoted fans and I ran into many familiar faces and met new ones including 2 fun girls who were visiting from Australia and were so excited to see their first Go-Go’s show. They worked their way up to the front during the show and we were singing and dancing together while they had tears in their eyes over the excitement! Belinda also called out some fans who were visiting from England.
Jane noticed me right away and said “Hi Marc!” right into her microphone while Kathy was giving me big smiles throughout the night. Belinda also took notice of me and my friend Charles right away and gave us lots of love during the set, even taking both of our hands during “Skidmarks on My Heart”.
They played a set that was pretty much similar to last Summers, and while I’d like them to switch it up a bit, I certainly didn’t leave feeling disappointed. On the way out, several people stopped me and said I looked like I was having the best time and they wanted to come dance with me next time! What can I say? I let loose at a Go-Go’s show…well, most shows! I also got a lot of compliments on the Go-Go’s t-shirt that I was wearing, a one of a kind design put together by myself and my graphic designer friend Viktor.
After the show, I sent Twitter messages to the band, thanking them for a wonderful night and immediately got messages back from Kathy and Belinda saying it was great to see me having such a good time! Way to make a guys night, ladies.
I’ve been going to see these ladies perform for over 30 years (yikes!) and as long as they keep doing it, I’ll keep going.

These are the sounds of Summer 2012!
This Summer’s “get ready to go out and party” song? Let’s have a Kiki! The lyrics explain what it is. Get ready to serve & work & turn, honey! This couldn’t come from anyone but our Scissor Sisters, who let this one leak this week as another sampler off the upcoming “Magic Hour”.
Nick Heyward and his band jamming out a jazz version of his solo hit “Take That Situation”, shot just today in England. I need to keep up on Nick’s video’s-just noticed another one shot a few days ago of him singing “Kite” in his kitchen! Check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0HkejBGNUI&feature=relmfu
In anticipation of her new “Electra Heart” album, let’s take a look back at Marina’s first visit to Los Angeles… Shot at the Troubadour on July 6, 2010, this is “Mowglis Road”.
Happy Birthday, Babs!
The legendary Bow Wow Wow returned to Southern California with a show at The Brixton in Redondo Beach. Always a bundle of energy, Annabella didn’t disappoint and led the band through a fantastic set. After not seeing them play for a few years, Im thrilled to see them back in action. They play with Berlin at House of Blues in Hollywood at the end of May.
